A color reproduction of the remarkable 1860 wall map of the State of New York, by J.H. French and R.P. Smith. Its high value today lies in the depiction of all major roads in the state as well as 1000s of place names. Principal buildings are also depicted in many locations. The CDROM reproduction is a PDF file containing all 60 counties and the entire body of the state map.
The title block of the map is shown above, and displays the degree of detail and artistry that went into this map. The original size of the map was approximately 5' x 6', making close examination of full size versions difficult. Our CDROM presents all the information on the original map in a user-friendly 84-page PDF book format. We also offer reduced prints of the map, which make attractive wall hangings despite the minuteness of some text. A low-res image of the whole map is shown below.
Our PDF includes clickable links to each County, and to the Geological and Meteorological maps of New York included in the wall map. The PDF ends with two sections devoted to the City maps included and to the pictures which line parts of the border, also accessible by clickable links.
